Day 5 Friday May 12 Jedburgh to Morebattle 16k

Leaving Jedburgh - we taxied back to where we'd left the trail the day before, to avoid several kilometres uphill into town.  This is not our b&b...
An unusually friendly lamb
And her sisters
Along a forested ridge
Beautiful countryside - a lot of animals and agricultural land
More uphill climbs
A well marked and well maintained trail
More uphills.  A little more overcast today, but no rain
Through canola fields

Miles of well maintained rock walls

A new view over the next hill
Coming into Cessford, with Cessford Castle ahead
A row of early 19th century cottages
A ruined cottage
A 14th century tower castle
Part of a decorated fireplace on the second floor, visible through a lower window
The current castle inhabitants
Heading towards Morebattle
The castle still dominates the landscape as you walk along

Morebattle
Our hotel
And next door, the St Cuthbert tea room
Happy hikers
